St. Patrick's Day is celebrated around the world every year. In Ireland, it is known as "the greenest day." Traditions include wearing green clothing, drinking Guinness beer, and eating corned beef and cabbage. There are many reasons why people celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Some like to wear green because it represents springtime. Others think it symbolizes luck and happiness. Still others believe that Saint Patrick drove snakes out of Ireland. Whatever your reason, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday. Here are some fun facts about St. Patrick's Day: 1. St. Patrick's Day originated in 1703. In 1703, King George II of England banned Catholics from attending his birthday celebrations. To protest the ban, Irish Protestants began celebrating their own version of the king's birthday. They called it St. Patrick's Day to honor the patron saint of Ireland. 2. People drink more alcohol on St. Patrick's Day than any other day of the year. The average American drinks over 20 gallons of alcoholic beverages during the course of the year. On St. Patrick's Day, Americans consume almost 30 gallons of alcohol. 3. More people eat corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's day than any other meal. Corned beef and cabbage is traditionally served on St. Patrick's feast days. Corned beef is cured meat that has been salted and boiled. It is usually eaten along with sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage. Both foods are traditional dishes in Germany.

Because Cork is an amazing city with many different neighborhoods that offer something for everyone!

Cork is Gaelic for tree or oak in Irish. Cork is the bark of the cork oak tree. The bark of the tree is peeled by hand, stripped from the tree. The cork oak holds the greatest natural reserves of tectum, a waxy substance that protects the tree from water damage.

Cork is bigger than Galway by about 40 square miles (100 km). This means that if you want to find something specific and don't know where it is, it's going to take a little more time to get there. But if you're looking for more options, then Cork definitely has them!
